You won't find any hidden clauses or any unfair terms in anything we do. You will find simple, straight forward agreements and a proper mechanism for handling complaints.
So why are we focussed on e-bikes?
We know that 42% of people who don’t cycle to work say they don’t because, they’re not fit enough, it’s too far, there is a hill and they don’t want to arrive hot and sweaty.
An e-bike solves all these issues at a stroke. E-bike assistance means that you can cycle in normal clothes and arrive looking cool and stylish. Hills are no longer a struggle and before long your e-bike will become a vital part of your life.
Academic research shows that e-bike riders use their cars 20% less. Why wouldn’t you? You can park anywhere without hefty car park charges. You can use pleasant cycle ways instead of congested, polluted roads and nothing is as much fun as an e-bike at the weekend!
e-bikes work by providing assistance so it’s as if you suddenly have Chris Hoy’s legs. The assistance will cease if you stop pedalling so riding one is just like a normal bike but with stronger legs.
e-bikes give you the confidence to still enjoy the ride home, even after a long day at the office. You’ll also benefit from gentle exercise so you’re likely to lose weight and get fitter. You’ll arrive invigorated and relaxed. When you’re ready you can reduce the assistance if you want to.
Of course if you’re still not convinced about an e-bike then you can always have an ordinary bike. The GCI is much better value than C2W schemes for any bike.
HOW IT WORKS as an employee
Your employer will provide you with a voucher to hire a commuting package of your choice from us.
The package can contain an e-bike or an ordinary bike as well as safety equipment, clothing and accessories, tools and spares. You can see what does and doesn’t qualify here.
The cost of your voucher is repaid via salary sacrifice. Depending on your tax rate, you’ll save either 32% or 42% on the cost of the package.
Because the salary sacrifice period is independent of the hire period, depending on your employer, you can normally choose 6, 12, 18 or 24 month periods. So you can afford a really decent quality e-bikes.
When the initial hire period ends, we’ll lend you the bike free so you don’t get hit with a Benefit in Kind charge.
We also appoint you as our agent to dispose of the bike to a third party of your choosing at the end of the free loan. So it doesn’t matter if you leave your employer. The cost to you for this arrangement is £1.
HOW IT WORKS as an employer
Offering your employees a Green Commute Initiative scheme is extremely easy.
No cash required
We normally finance the bike vouchers so there is no cash required and no impact on your cash-flow.
We manage the whole process for you. All an employer needs to do is let the employees know the GCI is available and then let payroll know about the salary reductions.
A “No cost” benefit
The salary sacrificed by your employees covers most of the costs and the difference is covered by your employer’s NI saving. Making the Green Commute Initiative a no cost benefit to offer your employees.
